How to calculate fleece fabric yarn percentage
How to calculate fleece fabric yarn percentage:
We know that fleece fabrics are mostly circular knitting . Due to the fabrics inside brush we call this fleece . Without brush we can call it Terry fabrics . That means Fleece and terry both are may same design but without brush we call terry and if it once be brush then it call as fleece .
Basically, a fleece fabric has three sets of yarn. They are called base, binding, and loop. Sometimes all yarn can be the same counter where the loop uses double-ply. This also can be terry or fleece. some times we use polyester like 50D, 75D, and 100D as binders to give the fabric a better quality. Sometimes we use loop side ring yarn for a better looking of loop side.
However now we come to the point of fleece fabrics percentage calculation.
Suppose that we will make a polyester binding fleece with three types of yarn 30/1 combed cotton on the face side, 75 deniers 100% polyester multifilament in the binder, and 16/1 on the loop side. Say that here stitch length is face side 4.60 mm, Binder 3.20 mm and 1.90 mm in loop side.
Yarn count : 30/1 combed cotton 75D =71s/1 16/1
Stitch length : 4.60 mm 3.20 mm 1.90 mm
Stitch length
Knitting machine yarn feeding rate =............................................................
Yarn count
First step : Ratio calculation
Base = 4.60 / 30 = 0.153
binding = 3.20 / 71 =0.045
Loop = 1.90 / 16 = 0.119
Total = 0.153 + 0.045 + 0.119= 0.317
Second step : Yarn percentage calculation
0.153 x 100
Base yarn % =............................................ = 48.26%
0.317
0.045 x 100
Binder yarn % =............................................= 14.20%
0.317
0.119 x 100
Loop yarn % =............................................= 37.54%
0.317
