Chemical properties of cellulose acetate rayon fiber

Chemical properties of cellulose acetate rayon fiber

Cellulose acetate is very mostly important in this era. It is prepared by heating cellulose with acetyle anhydride, glacial acetic acid and sulphuric acid at low temperature.

Reaction in acid: Acetate rayon has more prevention power in acid than rayon. Cellulose acetate dissolves in acetic acid. In strong and concentrated acid this fiber is decomposed.

Reaction in alkali: Strong and concentrated alkali disintegrate the fiber. But dilute alkali is less harmful. We should not use strong alkali with cellulose acetate rayon fiber.

Effect of bleaching: It has prevention power in the strong oxidizing bleaching agents. In white fiber no need for bleaching. But if it is necessary to bleach then we can use low-power hydrogen peroxide or low-concentrated hypochlorite bleaching.

Effect of light: This has good prevention to light than cotton and any other type of rayon. After a certain time, this fiber lost its strength.

Resistance to mildew: This fiber has high resistance to mildew. It is ideal for fabrics to be exposed to moisture such as shower curtains.

Effect in solvent: This fiber is decomposed in acetone. The dry cleaning agent is not harmful to this type of fiber.

Resistance to insect: This fibe has protect to insect. Moth and carpet beetles can never attack this fiber. In all acetate fiber or fabric have no need to moth proofing.

Resistance to perspiration: Acetate fiber has more perspiration fastness. Without solution dyes its color can be damaged.

Affinity to dyes: During acetate fiber processing need to use a special kind of dyes.

The use of cellulose acetate is most in our daily life. there are many ways that we use this fiber. The umbrella which we use everyday to be safe from rain that is made of  cellulose acetate fiber. We may be not think about that in any time.
