Dimensional Stability of fabric

  Dimensional Stability of fabric :

Dimensional stability means the percentage expression of fabrics length and widthwise how much shrink or extend. 

So dimensional stability can be two kinds. 

1. Shrinkage 

2. Extension 

Dimensional stability%: 

                          After measurement - Before measurement

                          Before measurement 

                              33 - 35

Suppose that , =.....................x 100

                                 35

                       = -0.06%

This is shrinkage. If the value is positive then we can call it an extension. 

During shrinkage measurement, we need to wash the fabrics or garments and after that, we dry the fabric in three processes. 

1. Tumble dry

2. Line dry 

3. Flat dry
