An overview of Yarn faults and Uster Classimat

An overview of yarn faults and Uster Classimat:

Uster Classimat is an important machiner in spinning. From the beginning of 1968, the invention of Uster Classimat shows an important role and revolutionary changes in the production and quality control in the spinning sector of textiles.

They are as below:

1. Frequently occurring faults

2. Seldom Occurring faults

Below I have given a description of the above two types of faults.

These are known as frequently occurring faults. The yarn is finer or coarser but we must get these faults at minimum or maximum in status. Thick, thin, and neps are known as frequently

That means,

Imperfection Index = Thick place + Thin place +Neps.

If a yarn have thick place = 25 / 1000 meter

Thin place = 30 /1000 meter

Neps = 100 /1000 meter

Then we can say that the yarn has an Imperfection index = 25+30+100

=155.

2. Seldom occurring faults: The faults of yarn which we never see regular basis or can see suddenly are known as seldom occurring faults. These faults are as below :

Slub

Long thick place

Long thin places

In this test, we set some grades based on the length of the defects and their weight in unit length

Uster classimat is a yarn testing machine. Uster classimat have 4 major unit.

1. Sensor or E.Y.C

2. Evaluation unit

3. Control panel

4. Monitor

Generally, Uster Classimat has 6 sensing units. These units are attached to the classifying unit. The experimented data are stored in one counter and it shows in 16 counters every counter shows the fault's length of the yarn and unit lengths weight of the yarn differently.

Yarn faults refer to defects or irregularities that occur during the spinning or manufacturing process of yarn. These faults can negatively impact the quality and performance of the final product made from the yarn and can include issues such as broken ends, slubs, neps, knots, and thick and thin places.

To assess the quality of yarn and identify any faults, textile manufacturers often use instruments such as the Uster Classimat. The Uster Classimat is a machine that analyzes the physical properties of yarn, such as its thickness, evenness, and strength, and provides objective measurements of yarn quality. It can also detect yarn faults and classify them into specific categories based on their severity and frequency.

The Uster Classimat is widely used in the textile industry and is considered an important tool for quality control and assurance. By identifying and quantifying yarn faults, manufacturers can make adjustments to their spinning process and improve the overall quality of their yarn and finished products. Additionally, the data generated by the Uster Classimat can be used to monitor and optimize production processes, reduce waste and cost, and ensure customer satisfaction.
