Properties of viscose rayon fiber
Properties of viscose rayon fiber:
We always try to learn something without deep attention in anything without knowing the jist of the topic. This is not the right way of learning anything.
Viscose rayon is one kind of man-made fiber. There are many man-made fibers in the world. But among them, it is the oldest fiber. Basically, this fiber is made of regenerated cellulose. Today in this blog I will discuss the physical and chemical properties of viscose rayon.
Every fiber has its molecular structure and microscopic feature also. So at first, we will know about the molecular structure and microscopic features of viscose fiber.
Molecular structure: This is regenerated cellulose fiber.
Microscopic features: This fiber is available in filament and staple in both forms.
The Cross section of this fiber is more uneven, uneven edge, and nearly circular. This fiber is generally white to look at. We can make it in three types not bright, bright, and more bright.
Physical properties:
1. Tenacity: Generally we express it in units of gram/ denier. As regular we get 2 gram/denier and high wet modulus as 4.5 gram/den. Tenacity actually depends on the kinds of rayon and the polymerization process.
2. Resiliency: Resiliency is not much good.
3. Abrasion resistance: This fiber has less abrasion resistance.
4. Moisture regain: 12-13%
5. Relative density: 1.53 g/cc
6. Flammability: This fiber burns out quickly.
7. Nature in high temperature: At 150°C this fiber degrades its strength.
8. Luster: Light shade to bright shade is possible.
9. Electrical and thermal conductivity: This fiber has good electrical and thermal conductivity to protect against static charges.
10. Stretch and elasticity: The production process differentiates its stretch and elasticity. Regular 20%, High modulus 13%, and high weight modulus 12% can expand before its tearing. If we expand it by 2% then it can recover as per regular 80%, high modulus 85%, and high weight modulus 95%.
