  Different stitches advantages and disadvantages :

There are many types of stitches in garment manufacturing. Today in this blog I will give you a clear concept of using various types of stitches advantages and disadvantages. So stay with our blog. 

1. Chain stitch: 

Advantages: 

a) For temporary sewing fabrics 

b) Cuff and waistband sewing purpose used to show gathered appearance. 

c) Use to make hem sewing.


Disadvantages: 

a) This stitch security is not good.

b) The whole sewing will be open if one stitch is broken. 


2. Hand stitch: 

Advantages: 

a) Needle and yarn pass from fabric from one side to another side and make a simple line on the fabric. 

b) To make valuable garments this stitch is used.

c) On the top of the fabric can make a nice design also. 


Disadvantages: 

a) The sewing speed is very narrow speed, as a result, production is less. 

b) Generally this sewing is not used to make garments.

c) Special needles are used that have both sides thin. 


3. Lock stitch: 

Advantages: 

a) This type of stitch has very strong elasticity power.

b) From both sides the fabrics look the same. 

c) Stitches are very safe and never tear or open.

d) Stitches sunk into the fabric has more abrasion resistance.

e) Pocket, collar, cuff, casing etc sewing time use this stitch. 


Disadvantages: 

a)  Bobbin thread is supplied yarn. Due to Bobbin's size being small, it can supply a small amount of yarn. 

b)  Two needle parallel sewing is very hard. 

c) Stitch elongation is less.


4. Multi-thread chain stitch: 

Advantages: 

a) This type of stitch is very hard.

b) Seam pucker is not possible.

c) Both side yarns are supplied from the cone so the yarn finish lately than the bobbin.


Disadvantages: 

a) Two groups of yarn using are critical.

b) The end of the sewing needs to keep a 1 cm chain otherwise it can be open.


5. Over-edge stitch: 

Advantages: 

a) This stitch system is that one group of yarn comes from the fabric edge and sewing will not come out.

b) This sewing is used for knitted fabric seam making. 

c) The stitch expansion is good. 

d) At The end of the garment decoration this stitch is used.

e)Use for  Denim, Jeans, and cord fabric making. 


Disadvantages: 

a) Not used for normal stitching.

b) Need an experienced operator.

c) Need to keep a long chain at the end of the fabric.


6. Covering chain stitch: 

Advantages: 

a) Flat lock or knitted fabric underwear sewing use this sewing.

b) Use for decoration of laser wear.

c) Lace, braid, elastic sewing purpose use.

d) At the end of the fabric need use for making decorative stitches and top stitches.


Disadvantages: 

a) This is not sufficient for general sewing.

b) This is complex sewing because here can use a maximum 9 yarn. 

c) Need an experienced operator.
