What is binder , fixer , anti migration agent and catalyst used in Pigment printing
What is a binder, fixer, anti-migration agent, and catalyst used in Pigment printing:
There are various types of chemicals that are used in printing. Today I am going to discuss the reaction to a textile fiber. Below is given various types of chemicals used in textile printing.
Binder: Binder is one kind of compound that makes a reaction with both textile fiber and with pigment chemicals. The binder helps to fix up pigment on textile fiber. This is made from various types of polymer and this is a film former. The polymer contains a functional group that makes the hard film by cross-linking during the curing operation. Pigments are nicely adjacent to a textile fiber.
Fixer: Fixer is a cross-linking agent used for cross-linking of dye molecules. Example of the fixing agent is di-methylol ethylene urea, Di-methylol urea, and hexamethylol melamine.
Anti Migration agent: Anti-migration agents are those agents that all help not to be spread outside of the printed area. Actually, this chemical helps to increase the emulsion viscosity of printing paste. Another name for the Anti-migration agent is Migration inhibitor. For Example, we can say Carboxymethyl cellulose, Sodium alginate, gum arabic.
Catalyst: All types of catalyst works as an acid liberating agent. This helps to fix up the binder.
