What is lining and interlining in garments:
Lining: In the inner side of garments a different quality fabric is stitched inside called lining.
To increase the garment's shape quality, hang and make comfortability to users are the target use lining. Not only these but also increase the inner beauty of the garments. Lining fabric can be knitted or woven. But also nowadays polyester, nylon, acetate rayon, cotton, wool, and their blend also used to make lining fabric. The body part of the garments needs to use rough type lining and in sleeves, we can use slippery lining.
Interlining: To keep the good shape of a garment part like a collar, waistband of pants, cuff of a shirt, we use one kind of fabric inside that is called Interlining. Fusible interlining is mostly used to give the expected shape. There are various types of interlining in garments. Fusible interlining is mostly used. On the contrary, the interlining that we use in sewing is called sewing interlining. Fusible interlining is attached by heat and pressure. the fabrics that are used as interlining are generally Cotton, nylon, polyester, wool, viscose, rayon, etc, or their blend fabric is used to make this.
Characteristics of lining and
interlining:
a) Lining and interlining fabric
quality must be matched with the main body fabric.
b) The lining and interlining
fabric must be produced from the same main element of the body fabric.
c) Lining and interlining must not shrink or extend after washing in the water. For this purpose need to shrink
resistant finish.
d) Must be done crease-resistant
finish that the fabric never be creased.
e) Interlining fabric's color must
be fast color because if it bleeds color then the body fabrics will absorb
that color and fabric be bad.
f) Interlining fabric must be
soft and flexible.
