Pattern making
Pattern making :
In the textile industry, for a garment, we need patterns for each part of the garment. For that reason, we take the measurement of every size garment and take a sketch on a hard paper to get the pattern. In a hard paper making like this measurement sizewise and cut every part order-wise and symbolize as per order is called as patter. If the garment has interlining then also needs a pattern for interlining.
Primarily there are two kinds of patterns. They are -
1. Sample pattern
2. Production pattern
Elaborately discussion
1. Sample pattern: Sample is an important section in any garment industry. Here we do sample by a pattern which is called a sample pattern.
2. Production pattern: By following which pattern a huge number of garments are made is called as production pattern.
In the garment industry pattern are divided into two parts:
1. Block pattern &
2. Garments pattern
Elaborate discussions are given below about both kinds of patterns.
1. Block pattern: Block pattern or basic block indicates an actual pattern that is made as per standard physical measurement adaptable but it never has any enhancement option. As per average age, we make this type of block pattern. To produce a block pattern we also can follow the below two processes.
a) Flat process
b) Modeling process
Both types of pattern making processes are described below:
a)Flat process: This type of pattern is made by hand or computer. Mainly we make body and sleeve patterns through this process. This flat process is generally invented from the modeling process. In this process, we can make patterns fastly. The accuracy of the pattern depends on the experience of the pattern maker.
b)Modelling: To make a garment pattern this is the first and root process for pattern making. In the garment industry now also this process is using. In this process, we take measurements from a standard model body and take measurements and make blocks. This pattern is named Toile. After making this pattern we fit it with the model and then desect every part on a hard pattern paper and cut as per the model. This process takes a long time but the pattern be excellent.
