The fume hood machine is a very much useful machine in any chemical lab. This machine exhaust and helps the chemical user from chemical vapor, fumes, gasses, dusts, mist, and aerosol. So here in below I have discussed the sop of fume hood machine that made by manufacturer ESCO. The machine model is EBD-5A0 

1. Ensure the exhaust is operating before beginning the work. Check the buffers for obstructions. If the hood is fitted with an airflow monitor, check the monitor status. Even while working be alerted to changes in airflow.  

2. When using the fume hood keep your face outside of the plane of the hood. Use the splash for partial protection for hazardous work. 

3. Works at least 6 inches back from the face of the hood. A stripe on the bench surface is a good reminder. 

4. Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as splash, goggles, and gloves. This enhances safety in case of catastrophic spills, runaway reactions, or makes fire. Wear a full face shield if there is any possibility of an explosion or eruption.

5. Do not make quick motions into or out of the hood, use fans, or walk quickly by the hood opening. These will cause airflow disturbances which reduce the effectiveness of the hood. 

6. Substitute the less hazardous or less volatile chemicals where possible. 

7. The hood should be kept closed except during apparatus set up or when working within the hood is necessary. Keep the sash closed as much as possible to maximize the performance of the hood. 

8. The items contaminated with odorous or hazardous materials should be removed from the hood. 

Precaution: 

1. The apparatus should be moved carefully.

2. Open the door with much carefulness.
