Acrilic fibers properties

  Acrylic fiber properties:

1.     Molecular structure: Polyacrylonitrile

2.     Microscopic feature :

a)This fiber can be produced as filament and staple.

b)Cross-section is orlon circle.

c)Colour is grey or white

d)Reflection of light  depends on the pigment that is used .

 

 

3.     Physical properties :

a)     Strength or tenacity : 2.5 gram / denier

 

b) Stretch and elasticity: Elongation at break is 20-55%. If we expand 2% then 95% can be recovered.

c) Resiliency: Very good and has good crease-resistant.

d) Abrasion resistance: Abrasion resistance is good and can be compared with wool fiber .

e) Volume permanency: In less temperature is good. But if apply more heat then its volume change.

f) Moisture regain: 1.5-3%

g)  Relative humidity: 1.14-1.19%

h) Heat resistance: At 150°C temperature, it has good resistance.

i) Luster: It is a Bright to light color.

j)Melting point: It can be melted at 230°C.

 

4.   Chemical properties :

a)Reaction in bleach: This fiber has good tolerance to bleach and we can use a regular bleaching agent.

b)Reaction in acid: Strong and concentrated acid can harm. The organic acid can not harm it. Spot can be cured by acid.

c)Reaction in alkali: In mild alkali, it has good protection but strong alkali can damage the fiber.

d)Reaction in organic solvent: Dry cleaning solvent is good for this fiber.

e)Sunlight and heat: Sunlight can not harm this fiber but after 150°C it is yellowish.

f)Spot remove: water like dirt can remove easily and oil spots can remove moderately.

g)Dye ability: Very easily it can be dyed. During the washing and light color is not bad. It can be dyed with acid dye, basic dye, chrome, premetalized dye.

h) Fungus and mildew: Fungus and mildew can not harm this fiber. Also, insects can not harm this fiber.

i)Flammability: It burns fast with bright yellow fire when we burn it.

j) Electrical and thermal conductivity: Electrical conductivity is good. It can not make heat easily.
