Describe the method of formation different sheds

Describe the method of formation of different sheds:

What are the different types of sheds?

There is various method to make sheds. In any power loom, there are four kinds of mechanisms to make a shed. They are as below:

1. Tappet shedding

2. Lappet shedding

3. Dobby shedding

4. Jacquard shedding

An elaborate discussion is given below:

1. Tappet shedding: This type of shedding is generally used for heald shedding. This is made from metal and it can force another material by another material. Basically, a tappet is attached to a rod or roller, or shaft that can be hit with high force by an anti-friction bowl and it pauses after a certain time interval. Tappet is also called a wyper or cam. There must be a mechanism in the loom to make shedding and there if use a tappet then it is called tappet shedding. In tappet shedding, w can use 2 healds for plain weave fabric, and for twill weave fabric we need to use 3 heald shafts.

2. Dobby shedding: Dobby is one kind of shedding mechanism. On the loom in the same frame, it is attached. By this, we can control the up-down of heald which makes a shed. Those designs are not possible by tappet shedding these all are possible by dobby shedding. There is 46 heald in a dobby. For the expected design we can use all of these. But commercially 16-20 heald shaft is in use and available in weaving.

3. Jacquard shedding: Jacquard is a shedding device that is set on a loom. This mechanism without a heald shaft uses a harness cord, hook, and needle to up and down a maximum number of warp yarn to produce a shed is called jacquard shedding.
