Dye or dyestuff or pigment chemical properties & classification of dyes
Dye or dyestuff or pigment description:
Dyes are most important of dyeing & printing . Dyes are those chemicals that has below criteria .
1. Soluble in water & in dyeing process when they react with fabric dye-bath then they add with fabric & leave water .
2.Sometimes we make some insoluble dye to soluble state by by using some chemical then the dye should have the ability to fix up in fabric in dyeing process .
3.Should have the capability to leave the solution & fix up in fabric .
4. It should be as a part & parcel of the fibre after dyeing .
Chemical properties of dyes :
In which material has chromophore group & after reaction with textile fibre it changes the chemical & physical properties of that fibre that after light reflection it show in human eyes in different color that are dye .
You may ask me that why dyes are having affinity to textile fibre . The real cause is that the dye stuff has the below two group .
1. Chromogen & 2. Oxochrome
We divide dyes into two different ways based on its solubility in water .
1. Water soluble dye
2. Insoluble dye .
1. Water soluble dye :
The dyes that are soluble in water are called as water soluble dye . For example :
a) Reactive dye,
b)Direct dye ,
c) Acid dye ,
d) Basic dye .
2. Water insoluble dye : The dyes that are not soluble in water but after using catalyst they are being soluble in water is called as insoluble dye . For example :
a) Vat dye
b)Sulphur dye
c) Disperse dye
All water insoluble dyes are soluble state after using catalyst like reducing agents . So viewers stay with my blog to get next blog about direct dye , acid dye , basic dye , vat dye , sulphur dye & disperse dye .
